SAD TO ANNOUNCE

SYLVIA GRAY.   Sylvia was a long time member of Droitwich Golf Club with her great interest being that of the junior girls.   She ran the girls section at the club before becoming involved with the County and was Junior County Organiser for many years seeing several of her junior team going on to play 1st team county golf.  
Perhaps the thing she will be most remembered for was starting the Droitwich Girls Open together with her husband Jimmy.  In those early days it was the only Girls only open in the country and players came from all over the country - often making a start sheet of 80 girls many of whom went on to become internationals and pros.   She was also one of the instigators of the Droitwich Handicap League. She was also past captain & past president of the ladies section at Droitwich.   She will be much missed not only at the club but by those in the county who knew her
