SEASONS GREETINGS TO YOU ALL & GOOD WISHES & GOOD GOLF IN 2025

On a dark and dismal evening in December, I thought I would send you a review of the past few months & a few notes to be aware of in 2025.

GOLF NEWS....

CONGRATULATIONS to Jenny Hartley & her group of 1st & 2nd Team Players, on retaining the                     Mary Turner Bowl in October. A fabulous achievement, 2nd year in a row!                                  The Competition is played between W&H, Warwickshire & Staffordshire, in a                           Better-ball format with all scores to count.

Well done all & thank you to the supporters who turned out on a cold day,

                                           You made the difference!

SOMETHING NEW.....

If you have any Club News or successes please send an email to webmaster3@whlcga.co.uk, we have a section on the website, marked 'CLUB NEWS' & would love to share your successes & news.

For instance; we highlighted the successes of Warley Woods Golf Club in September, where both their A & B teams reached the semi-final of the National Association of Public & Proprietary Golf Courses (NAPGC) Competition. It is sad they had to play each other. The B team went on to play in the National Final at Thornbury GC.

Have you seen the 'Player Profiles' on Facebook recently under WHLCGA? Lucy Walton has been busy creating these 'snippets', they are so well presented Lucy. Thank you!

Here is an example of the postings... This features, Sarah Cranton !

AND NOW ON TO OUR GIRLS..............

What a season you have all had, very well done.

This Autumn Amelia, Niamh & Maisie have all had a HOLE IN 1 in a competitive round.

Here they are celebrating...

Maisie & Niamh, also qualified & played in......

THE EUROPEAN JUNIOR OPEN held in Portugal, during November. They played 5 rounds, the cut was after 4 & Maisie came 7th Best Gross , with Niamh taking 5th Best Gross & winning the Nett competition. What an achievement, well done & great job from the 'Caddy Dad's.'

Keep swinging into 2025.  You can view this competition on Sky TV in January.

Ladies News....

The team from the Worcestershire who won the County Team Championships in 2023, went on the represent their Club at the 'Club Team Championships' & finish 9th Best Club in the Country. Congratulations to Denise, Louise & Lucy.

&

Lucy Walton won the Strathtyrum Trophy a Scratch competition held at St Andrews Links Courses, what an achievement.

Good luck each & every County lady for a very successful 2025. I hope this news inspires you all to get involved & enjoy this wonderful game of golf.

All the 2025 County Competitions, organised for you to enjoy in friendly competition, are on our website. Please get your diaries out over the new year & plan ahead. We would love to see more competitors entering all the competitions. The credit card sized fixture cards, have been ordered once again & will be distributed to Clubs, early in the new year.

****************

The Buggy Policy has been refined over the winter & it is clear for you to see now on the website. All competitors, please make sure you read these rules, if you have an existing condition which will require you to need a buggy. Plan ahead & follow the guidelines, this will make sure you are prepared for the season.
We would also ask all golfers to check their golf insurance cover. What does it cover you for? Is it sufficient for your needs? Whilst in charge of a buggy, do you have the right cover in place to protect yourself & 3rd parties against accident & personal injury? PLEASE DON'T ASSUME YOU HAVE COVER, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO KNOW.

Just a quick note that should you need to use a buggy in any County competition, we require you to advise the Competition Secretary in advance of play & sign a form which will be found on the Competition desk.

*****************

You may know that Faith Wilson has offered to complete a further year as our Competition Secretary, she is doing all this for our benefit. Many people say how much they love the Competitions, however, it will be difficult to continue without new volunteers coming forward. Please consider this & if you would like to get involved or know someone who would please let us know. secretary@whlcga.co.uk
